Blue Hole

Gozo’s renowned Blue Hole offers divers a truly distinctive and captivating underwater adventure, drawing divers back year after year to enjoy its remarkable topography.

Situated on Gozo’s western coast in Dwejra, the Blue Hole stands out among the array of spectacular dives the region has to offer. Nestled beneath the Cliffside, once the majestic home of the Azure Window, this underwater marvel spans approximately 5 meters in width and 10 meters in breadth. Divers descend to a depth of 15 meters to the bottom of the Blue Hole to commence their exploration.

Once Underwater, there are a number of great natural features to explore. A huge arch connects this geological wonder to the open sea, creating awe-inspiring photo opportunities as sunlight pierces through the surface. For those seeking a touch of adventure, an enchanting cave awaits exploration beneath the Blue Hole.

Upon exiting the Blue Hole, divers can venture through the remains of the iconic Azure Window, now resembling an underwater mountain range emerging from the depths. Open Water divers will enjoy playing around the top of the ‘mountains’, while divers looking to add a little depth can pass through a number of swim throughs created by the collapsed arch, to a depth of up to 40m.
This area boasts multiple rocky reef areas, teeming with marine life. Octopus, Cuttlefish, Barracuda, Amberjack, Blue Runner, Moray Eels, and even the elusive Conger Eel in winter months, contribute to the vibrant underwater tapestry.

An additional option is the chimney, a distinctive formation allowing divers to ascend through a tunnel carved into the Cliffside near the underwater entrance of the Blue Hole.
